It has been only a month but Indonesia is already facing challenges in dealing with emergencies and disasters, especially after the eruption in Sinabung and floods in Manado and Jakarta. Let’s hope and pray that the disasters will soon be over and we can move forward without any further disturbances and above all, all victims & casualties are safe and sound.
We would like to say Happy Chinese New Year to those who celebrate! We wish you all good health & lasting prosperity and hope your New Year is off to a good start.
We, the big family of Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts have just held a ‘kickoff meeting 2014′ at Aerowisata Grand Hotel Preanger (soon to be Prama, Grand Preanger, Bandung) on 27-29 January as a breakthrough to a great new year ahead. At the start of every year, our team holds kickoff meetings to set the tone and pace to reconfirm the budget which all hotels have to achieve throughout the year. This is also the time where the management sets a benchmark for all the staff to perform; 2014 becomes even more remarkable because of the transformation of our names, logos and concepts.
Finally, in this month of romance, we have truly ‘special pamper’ packages for you and your loved ones and not to mention the lovely holiday giveaway at the end of this issue.

How the Javanese royal family stays fit
While many people in this era use modern medicines to cure sickness and maintain health, many Indonesian people, still believe in the effectiveness of herbal medicines. For example, take Wedang Secang, one of the famous traditional drinks from Central Java. The drink that was once the exclusive drink of the Javanese Royal family has now been made available for everyone… It is the welcome drink at all Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts.
Wedang Secang is made from various spices, including lemongrass, ginger, cinnamon and secang bark that gives the natural red color of the drink. It can be served either hot or cold without reducing the freshness and the warmth that you can feel inside your body and throat.
This drink is not only delicious but also good for your health: drink a glass of Wedang Secang a day and your stamina will be improved. People also believe that the drink is able to cope with the narrowing of coronary arteries, relieve stiffness in the muscles, combat flatulence and maintain a healthy immune system.

Time to rebrand ourselves
The beginning of 2014 seems perfect for us to kick off with a big transformation. We realized that change is necessary for any business to survive, as there are also changes in preferences, market demands and traditions, therefore we don’t want to run our business the same way.
For many months, we have been formulating to build strategic and tactical steps to create high brand equity. Our management initiated the rebranding of Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio by prioritizing three strategic decisions, include therein building brand architecture, sharpening brand position and transforming brand identity.
It is with great pleasure that we announce our new brands, for our upscale category – PRAMA, for our midscale category – KILA and for economy scale category – ASANA, not only emphasizing on our core values but also embodies our motto “Authentic Indonesian Hospitality”. These three new concepts reflect the commitment to our true values and roots.
We evolve locally, but aim to spread globally.

To make 2014 a better year for both the human and wildlife, we kicked off the year with some social activities, including a visit to a nursing home and a sea turtles hatching project. These two activities also marked the start of our 40th anniversary celebration that falls on 29th July 2014.
Visiting a nursing home and making someone smile
On 3rd January 2014, the Aerowisata Sanur Beach Hotel team paid a visit to Tresna Werdha Seraya nursing home that is occupied by 53 elderly people. During the visit, the team donated a bed and some useful clothes.
We can really make the elderly feel better by visiting them and we should seize the opportunity to make their quality of life better and get a glimpse of genuine smiles on their faces.
Sea turtles hatching project
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Aerowisata Sanur Beach Hotel recently supported the hatching of 86 baby sea turtles, known as tukik, on 24th January 2014. The baby sea turtles hatched three months ago on the beach front of Sanur Beach and were taken into captivity to ensure their survival. Together with Sindhu Turtle Foundation, we ensured that all 86 turtles survived and released them back in the clean waters of Sanur Beach. The aprogram was supported by all the hotel employees, guests who were staying at Sanur Beach Hotel and media. We hope the baby sea turtles can make it to adulthood and return to our beaches again!
Wirayani Parikesit – General Manager of Marketing
Meet Wira, a humble guy who recently moved to the headquarters of Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts as the General Manager of Marketing. Previously, he was working as the General Manager of Aerotel Kawanua Jakarta for quite a long time where all staff there recognize him as a fun yet assertive guy. Although his new job is making him even busier, Wira says that he likes to cook whenever he is free. In the near future, you may accidentally meet him somewhere in Indonesia during the roadshow of Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts rebranding campaign, or find him busy cooking delicious food and scrumptious desserts in his kitchen.
Let’s wish him the best of luck!
Wisnu Aditiya – General Manager of Aerotel Kawanua Jakarta
We are happy to announce that Wisnu Aditiya is now in charge as the General Manager of Aerotel Kawanua Jakarta! Graduated from Dhyana Pura Denpasar in 1999, Wisnu started working professionally in hospitality industry in 1997 and has an excellent background in operational and guest service. Prior to joining Aerotel Kawanua Jakarta, this father of a 12-year-old daughter was working at Aerowisata Sanur Beach Hotel Bali for many years before he joined Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts in Batam and Magelang. Being born and raised in Bali, it is not surprising that Wisnu is a certified diver who has completed open water certification. He admits that he also loves traveling and fishing during his free time.
We are delighted to have him on board with the Jakarta team!
Where to stay
Honeymoon in paradise
For lovebirds, there is no better way to have a honeymoon escapade than in an oasis of peace and quiet with beautiful surroundings. Located in Biak, in the northwest of Papua, Aerotel Irian Biak is a picturesque getaway on this tropical island, located only a few minutes away from Frans Kaisiepo Airport. At the hotel, you can relax in the swimming pool overlooking the sea or walk along the stunning white sand beach with clear dazzling seas. Do not worry about your appetite, because as the one and only hotel catering service in Biak that provides savory dishes for airlines, auxiliary, VIP lounges, and other companies, Aerotel Irian Biak does a good job in satisfying every palate.
Aerotel Irian Biak
“Best Hotel in Biak”
I’ve stayed at three hotels in Biak, and this is my favorite. A two-minute walk to the airport and a 20 minute walk to a few good grilled fish restaurants. The air conditioners don’t rattle, the sheets are clean, and there is a dive operation on-site.
Get a room away from the parking lot and not in a high traffic hallway: the floors are wood, so the sound of all the wheely suitcases rattling by will really start to bother you.

“Relaxing hotel, great location.”
We only had one night here and wanted the convenience of being near the airport and this place is a 5 minute walk away. Room was pretty nice and costs are reasonable both room rates and meals. We really liked the large pool to relax in after a full day bird watching. I have bird watching tips about Biak on my blog: http://www.milestothewild.com/biak-a-gentle-introduction-to-west-papua/. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Biak.

“Great atmosphere, nice staff and beautiful views.”
We have stayed here for 4 nights and have enjoyed our stay very much. Being from Europe we are used to the Accor standards but this hotel has something. For a start the hotel is situated opposite the airport but the noise, even from being a boeing 737 is minimum. Early check in is available which is great, the rooms are simple but clean and a good shower. The balcony is an oasis of rest and birdwatching. Be aware that the pool is sometimes used by locals. The food for lunch and dinner is great, one of the best gado gado i had in Indonesia. The staff, Adam from the restaurant and Cliff manager of the restaurant are super friendly. Highly would recommend this place, dont expect the Sheraton but it is a different hidden gem with a charm of the past (check out the old blue KLM seats in the lobby). If you are lucky you can see a traditional wedding in the hotel!
