Aerowisata Hotels Newsletter

December 2013

Warm Greetings

Dear Readers,

Despite the 2013 global slowdown, the tourism sector in Indonesia experienced an increasing demand. Based on the data from Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) released in early November 2013, the number of foreign tourist arrivals between January and September 2013 reached 6.41 million, an increase of 8.8 percent from the same period last year. This is unsurprising yet remarkable, considering the islands of Indonesia offer a unique biodiversity and natural beauty that no other country has.

In 2014, the Indonesian Government is planning to boost 16 tourism destinations within the country and set up seven particular interesting tour zones. The tourism and creative economy industry is the seventh largest sector contributing to the country’s growth. One of the ways to boost the tourism sector in Indonesia is by actively participating in international travel fairs. From 4th-7th November 2013, Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts took part as one of the exhibitors at World Travel Market 2013 held in London. With the increasing numbers of English tourists visiting Indonesia, we believe that the event was an effective and useful way to get the word out and monitor the market’s response.

We hope to be able to fully participate in promoting Indonesian natural beauty through our hotel chain and encouraging tourists to keep coming back to Indonesia through our impeccable service!

Finally, we would like to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2014…

Happy reading and happy holidays!

Green bamboo aromatherapy: a scent to relax your senses

Although bamboo is most famous as the staple diet for giant panda in China, the plant has been well- known in Indonesia for a long time. From the traditional weapon ‘bamboo spears’ to traditional musical instruments such as angklung and ring flute, bamboo has long been a part of Indonesian people’s lives.
Recently, Indonesian Ministry of Environment is trying to boost the conservation and utilization of bamboo as one of the country’s heritages. To support the ministry’s program and to present the new service concept called Authentic Indonesian Hospitality that reveals the best aspect of Indonesia to its guests based on the 5 senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch), Aerowisata Hotels & Resorts introduces its recent signature Green Bamboo Aromatherapy, an aroma diffuser extracted from the branch joints of the bamboo that will relieve your physical and mental stress.

Guest impressions

Aerowisata Sanur Beach Hotel

“Good hotel, good location, great value”

Stayed here for 1 night, at the end of our trip, and as an alternative to staying in the Kuta – Seminyak strip and couldn’t have been happier.

The hotel is massive (over 400 rooms) but was excellent. Specifically; good size rooms, great large and comfortable bed, excellent air con, nicely furnished, good shower and spacious bathroom, exceptional and amazing value food – some of the best seafood we ate in our time in Indonesia – great pools; warm and large with plenty of sun loungers and in a good location with plenty of restaurants and bars near by. On the downside, the bar closed at 11 which is early but perhaps reflective the family and older clientèle and the hotel lacks the grounds / tropical gardens and wow factor of other hotels in Indonesia.

Furthermore and more generally, the town lacks any sort of beach-side dining / chilling out options but the beach is far cleaner than the beach in Legian (if not as spectacular) and has way more water sport options as the ocean is noticeably calmer and the town has far more in the way of bars you would actually want to go to – they tend to be more upmarket and spread out in Seminyak, horrific in Kuta (Benidorm on steroids) and focused on karaoke or trash metal in Legian. The restaurants are also excellent and the Japanese restaurant in particular and around the corner from the hotel offered truly outstanding cuisine and the best customer service we experienced in Indonesia.

All in all, if you are thinking about staying in Sanur – then for the money, all-in-all, this hotel is pretty good value.

“Paradise Found”

Having travelled to Bali on many occasions, this was the first time we stayed in Sanur. What an absolute paradise! There is a real village feel about Sanur, very different to the hustle and bustle of Kuta. The Sanur Beach Hotel ticked all the boxes for me. Its location, staff, swimming pools and accommodation were all above par. We were upgraded to a wonderful suite on the top floor, overlooking one of the pools and could see the water peeping through the palm trees.

Although the accommodation is a little dated, it is clean and as with the older style Bali accommodation, large! The swimming pools were a delight and the beautiful thing about this resort is that it did not lack banana lounges. Also, the constant breeze beachside made the hot Bali sun, tolerable. The staff were exceptionally courteous with genuine smiles and excellent customer service skills. I say ‘skills’ because they communicated professionally with people, something I have found a little lacking in the past on this Island of the gods.

I will definitely return to Sanur and I most definitely will stay at the Sanur Beach Hotel. Excellent value, excellent service and excellent location.

“Great place for a relaxing holiday”

First time we have visited this hotel and I have to say what a great place. Thanks to Trip Advisor I managed to score a great room in the Kresna (I think- the newer wing) wing- room 715. Non smoking on the 3rd floor. Initially we were in 633 but it had twin beds and we asked for double. There was no trouble accommodating us at all. We have a balcony and we have sea glimpses. Shower is excellent, with safe and mini fridge in the room. The decor is dated but its all very clean. Breakfast is lovely, over eat every day!! The fitness centre is being renovated so we have been taken by a minivan to another hotel for the gym. They collect us when we ask.

We love sitting on the sun beds on the sand under the gorgeous trees, overlooking the ocean. The bar is super with funky seats hanging from the ceiling. This hotel is located in the quieter part of Sanur – south, but we loved it. There is a yoga centre next door and they accept drop ins.

Lots of excellent restaurants just outside the hotel. We also hired bikes today which we thoroughly enjoyed- discovering the rest of Sanur.

We will definitely be back here!!
